The Story of Ruth and Naomi

The man’s name was Elimelech; his wife Naomi; and his two sons, Malom and Kiliom. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem of Judah. They came to Moab, and there they stayed. Elimelech, the husband of Naomi, died, and she was left alone with her two sons. They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After ten dwellings there for nearly ten years, also Malom and Kiliom, and Naomi was left alone, without her two children and without her husband.
When Naomi learned in Moab that the Lord had come to the aid of her people, giving them food, she decided to return with two to her land. Naomi said to them, “Go! Return to your mother’s house! May the Lord be loyal to you, as you were loyal to the dead and to me. As they returned to the land of Judah, she then kissed them goodbye. But they started crying loudly and told him, “No! We will return with you to your people!” Come back, my daughters! They go! I’m too old to have another husband.
And even though I thought there was still hope for me — even if I got married tonight and then gave birth, They then started crying children out loud again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth stayed with her. Ru, however, replied: “Don’t insist on me and let me not accompany you anymore. Wherever you go I’ll go, where you stay I’ll stay! Your people will be my people and your God will be my God!
The Book of Ruth teaches us how much we are rewarded by the Lord when we do good to others. Ruth stopped going to her people, her nation out of love, consideration and loyalty to her mother-in-law being elderly, Ruth prefers to take care of her and accompany her back to the land of the Hebrews.
Ruth was used with great wisdom in her actions and greatly blessed by God with a remarriage giving her a hopeful redeeming husband. A man who feared God and who bore him a son who was named Obed. This was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
How can we get and know how it happened to Ruth? The Bible describes that wisdom comes from God, and through prayer, fellowship, faith and study as Scripture we fill our lives with the presence of God.
Jesus was called the son of David because he was a descendant of David and an heir of David’s promise. Jesus was the son of God but he became a man. As a man, he was a descendant of King David Romans 1:3–4.
The Story of Ruth and Naomi shows that God honored her for the attitude she had with her mother-in-law, where she prepared a husband for her, where she came to change her life, and shows us that it was through her faith in God and fidelity, love made her a winning woman. You can become a winner by carrying out faith in action, and also by having a deep communion with the Lord God.
